GUEST BEDROOM: THE CHAMBER OF ‘VISITORS’

Civilization taught us the art of standing fixed within our own edifice of stones and gravels. And oh, does it not make us thoroughly grateful at having ruled out the culture of nomads? As enticing as that might sound, we also get to accommodate the fellow social mates we are bound to by blood or love, in our very own construction. We brand them ‘guests’ who, no matter how frequently or seldom visit us, subconsciously expect a home away from their home. Imparting them the comfort that they so deeply wish to get hold of, is a responsibility that often bogs us down. We seem to be deficient of ideas and efforts soon turn into uphill struggles.

But, worry not! To resolve the ubiquitous guest bedroom woes, here we present to you some easy guest bedroom ideas that will ensure unadulterated comfort for all your visitors. As a way of giving you a quick and easy reference, these pointers have been split into - Design ideas and Decoration ideas for your guest bedroom.

Guest Bedroom Ideas
Guest Bedroom Design

Talking of the design, there are a myriad of ways that you can make the visitors feel right at home. For small guest bedrooms, it is much better to place a small bed instead of a queen sized bed to ensure spaciousness around the room. A clever way of placing the bed for the said purpose is to move it closer to the wall centrically in a way that it is moved away from the side window, creating space on both sides of the bed. Additionally, the inessential items must be transferred to some other place outside the room. For example, a bulky, large wardrobe or furniture is uncalled for in a small bedroom. Also, it is a good idea to use a small mirror on the wall rather than having a massive one to make the whole room look airy.

For larger guest bedrooms, a Queen sized bed or two small beds on two sides can be used. Some furnishings like a chair, a dresser and a small table can be placed to give a comfortable vibe to the guests. In addition, it would also give them a scope to use their laptops at ease or use the table for writing as they please. It is also advisable to have extra pillows on the bed to make it a cosy guest bedroom. A nice dressing table and a small rack for storage can also add to the overall comfort of the room.

Other vital essentials for a guest bedroom include good lighting and ceiling fans or air conditioners. Soft lighting always works wonders. However, try having an option for some bright light as well by fitting in LED tubes that the visitors might require for various purposes.

Guest Bedroom Decoration

Nothing adds to the complete charm of a room any day than the décor it houses and your guest bedroom must be no exception. To begin with, choose a neutral colour palette or something as soothing as a blue hue for the walls. You could also go for a Yellow or a Pink for a fun spin. This would summon warmth and relaxation. Picking up a theme is also a good guest bedroom décor idea. For example, does vintage appeal to you? Or, do you want to go all white? A retro theme is also pretty much in. Once you are sorted with the theme and colour, you could go about placing matching furnishings in the room. White furnishings, for instance, counter balance and complement the colourful retro room. By the same token, you could use some classic wooden furniture to go with the vintage theme. As a final toss, positioning a side table to the bed with a vase on it casing some fresh flowers would be the cherry on the cake. Having a small lamp also enhances the charisma of the room along with serving the dual functionality of lighting. Bed side scones make for a perfect guest bedroom ornamentation.

With all of the above things in place, all your guests would swim across their stay quite delightfully without you having to ache your head, we assure. So, go ahead. Revamp and renew your guest bedrooms and give your loved once an experience that would make them stick around you for the times ahead. Make it worthwhile, folks!
